Kicking off ASCO 2018
More postsThe ASCO 2018 Preview discussion on May 24 provided an exciting advance glimpse of the conference that starts this Friday, June 1, in Chicago. Panelists included Richard Leff, MD, Lee S. Schwartzberg, MD, FACP, and Debra Patt, MD, MPH, MBA. Their wide-ranging conversation addressed such topics as the advent of widespread, affordable somatic testing for mutations and the challenge for physicians in interpreting these test results, the question of how we will pay for the innovation and improvements in care we want to deliver to patients, and the rapidly changing data guiding the treatment of lung cancer, particularly from studies looking at checkpoint inhibitors. The panelists stressed the increasing importance of immunotherapy studies, while cautioning that “We don’t know all the biology yet. The immune system is so complex.”
We’re looking forward to the conference. https://iplanner.asco.org/am2018/#/
